Seattle police arrest suspect in 2013 slaying

A 42-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the slaying of a woman whose body was found on a railroad track in July, according to Seattle police.

Homicide detectives were called out to the tracks near 5th Avenue South and South Spokane Street around 5 a.m. on July 2 by a train engineer who spotted the body, police said.

The woman had not been struck by a train, but had sustained significant head injuries, investigators determined.
Seattle homicide detectives obtained DNA from the 42-year-old man, who had previously been in a relationship with the victim, and sent it to the Washington State Crime Lab, police said.

The man was arrested on Wednesday after the crime lab determined his DNA was a match to evidence obtained from the victim, police said. He was booked him into the King County Jail on investigation of homicide.
