Updated at 11:46 a.m.| Seattle police say a bank robbery suspect has been shot. His condition was not immediately known.Police say he may have been armed with a knife.
He was confronted and shot in the 100 block of 39th Avenue East a short time ago.
Original post: Police are shutting down streets in the Denny-Blaine neighborhood in search of a bank robber who was reportedly dressed in women’s clothing.
Police said they were called to 39th Avenue East and East John Street around 9:30 a.m. for a report of an armed man, “reportedly wearing lots of makeup, women’s clothing and a brunette wig,” seen taking off from a car crash with a rolling suitcase.
A person with the same description had earlier robbed a bank near East Madison Street and McGilvra Boulevard about 15 minutes earlier, according to Seattle police. The man took off from the bank in a silver Hyundai.
The man later ditched his disguise, police said. He is described as a white man, 5-feet-7 and 170 pounds. He wore glasses, a tan jacket and makeup.
