Thursday Memo: Abducted child safe … M’s keep winning … NBA team poll

What’s going on here? A stranger — or perhaps better said — a strange man, is accused of taking a 2-year-old boy from his parents’ Spokane home, bringing the tot to an Airway Heights apartment, then dropping him off at a convenience store. The guy told cops he thought the boy was a 7-year-old girl he found wandering and offered to take her home …

It didn’t take a jury long to convict a 25-year-old woman in Portland yesterday in the beating death of her 4-year-old son. Prosecutors had emphasized that a motive for the killing was the woman’s belief her child was gay, although in closing arguments prosecutors focused on the words of the dead boy’s young sister, who watched the beating death. The Oregonian has the story.

The Mariners win, again. The M’s are off to a 3-0 start. Nice. Let’s see what happens when they face another team. All three of those wins were against the L.A. Angels.

Speaking of sports, Chris Hansen, who pushed to bring an NBA team to the Emerald City, says a team here is ‘inevitable.’  Do you think Seattle will eventually get an NBA team? Vote in our poll.

Weather: Rain, showers and more showers all the way through the weekend. Sorry. National Weather Service forecast
