3 dead after crash near Sedro-Woolley

UPDATE 2:03 p.m.:

The Washington State Patrol has identified three people killed in an early morning crash on Highway 20 near Sedro-Woolley.

The victims are: Frederick A. Brand, 65, of Concrete; Megan L. Brown, 21, of Bellingham; and Nicole A. Washington, 23, of Sedro-Woolley. Two men, Quinnton A. Baxter, 22, of Burlington, and Alfredo Navarro Jr. III, 19, of Mount Vernon, have been hospitalized.

Troopers say that the 1998 Audi A4 that was carrying Navarro Jr. III, Brown and  Washington crossed the center line at Minkler Road and crashed into Brand’s 2006 Ford Fusion. A State Patrol memo on the crash said it is unclear what car Baxter was riding in; the memo also does not say who was driving the Audi.

UPDATE: All lanes of Highway 20 are now open, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

The Washington State Patrol is reporting a deadly crash on Highway 20 east of Sedro-Woolley.

There are three confirmed dead and two people injured in the crash that occurred at 5:10 a.m., said Trooper Mark Francis.

“It was a head-on collision. We don’t know who crossed over; it was between a Ford Fusion and an Audi,” Francis said. “There was possible alcohol involved. A firefighter said she smelled the odor of intoxicants.”

Highway 20 is closed while the State Patrol investigates.
