2nd person dies from SUV crash at Lake Sammamish house

A second person has died from injuries suffered when a 68-year-old woman crashed her Jeep SUV through her Lake Sammamish house Friday night and partially into the lake.

The 40-year-old man who died is the woman’s son-in-law, said King County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman DB Gates. The man initially survived but died over the weekend, Gates said. His name was not released.

The man’s 34-year-old wife also suffered critical injuries when her mother crashed the Jeep into the home in the 3400 block of East Lake Sammamish Shore Lane Southeast. The couple’s three-year-old son was in the Jeep when the crash occurred but was not injured.

The driver’s 70-year-old partner, David Walker, died in the crash.

The driver, whose vehicle plowed through the house and caught on a deck before going entirely  into Lake Sammamish, was arrested Friday and booked into King County Jail for investigation of vehicular homicide and assault. She left the jail Saturday on conditional release.

Sgt. Gates said detectives are awaiting the results of her toxicology test, which will take at least three weeks.
