Arlington man pleads guilty to child-porn charges

A 35-year-old Arlington man faces at least 15 years in prison after pleading guilty Monday to federal charges of distributing child pornography.

As a repeat offender, Christopher David Doggett faces a mandatory minimum sentence of at least 15 years — and up to 40 years — when he is sentenced in August, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a news release.

In a search of Doggett’s home in January 2010, Snohomish County Sheriff’s deputies found more than 600 images of child pornography that he’d distributed via computer. They also discovered images on Doggett’s smartphone of him molesting a young child, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

Doggett pleaded guilty Monday in U.S. District Court in Seattle.

Doggett was convicted on state charges of dealing child pornography and sentenced to 90 months in prison in 2011. He’d previously had a 2003 conviction for possession and distribution of child pornography.

Chief U.S. District Judge Marsha Pechman will decide whether the federal and state charges should run concurrently or consecutively when Doggett is sentenced on Aug. 15.

Doggett also will be required to register as a sex offender and undergo a psycho-sexual evaluation.
