Body in shopping cart leads to arrest in South Seattle

Detectives have made an arrest in connection with the case earlier this week of a man pushing a shopping cart with a body in it through a South Seattle neighborhood.

Authorities said a man, 46, was arrested at 8:20 p.m. Friday, and booked for investigation of murder and for an outstanding felony warrant from another case.

Police said witnesses reported seeing a man Thursday morning struggling to push a shopping cart with a body in it, then trying to get the body in a backyard recycling bin. The man left before police arrived in the 4000 block of South Austin Street in the Othello neighborhood. Officers found the cart with what police described as a pile of clothes with feet sticking out.

Officers said the victim and suspect knew each other and that they are not looking for any other suspects.
