Inmate who died in Snohomish County Jail is identified

The inmate who died while in custody at the Snohomish County Jail in Everett last week has been identified as Melissa L. Bradford, according to the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Bradford, 42, of Tulalip, was found unresponsive in the jail’s medical unit around 2 p.m. last Thursday, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office said. The cause and manner of her death are pending further investigation.

According to the Sheriff’s office, Bradford had been booked into the jail Monday on suspicion of fourth-degree domestic violence assault. She had been medically screened at booking and placed on drug-and-alcohol-withdrawal watch and checked every half hour by medical-unit personnel, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Her death is the 10th at the jail since 2010.
