SPD seeks help finding driver who struck cyclist on Harbor Island

Seattle police are searching for a motorist who struck and seriously injured a cyclist and then drove away Thursday night on Harbor Island.

Witnesses found the cyclist lying in the street at 11th Avenue Southwest and Southwest Spokane Street around 8:20 p.m. and called 911, according to the Seattle Police Department. The cyclist was taken to Harborview Medical Center with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Police say the cyclist apparently was struck while riding westbound on Southwest Spokane Street.

Detectives believe the vehicle is light metallic blue and missing its right side mirror, police said. It should have damage to the front bumper as well as heavy damage to the windshield. The motorist likely continued west over the lower bridge and into West Seattle.

Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Andrew Norton at 206-684-8934.
