Teen hit by car while walking along Renton street

A 17-year-old girl was seriously injured this morning when she was hit by a car while walking on the right shoulder of Duvall Avenue Northeast in Renton, according to Renton police.

Witnesses told officers that the driver of a maroon sedan was driving north in the 800 block of Duvall Avenue Northeast around 11:45 a.m. and drifted onto the shoulder of the road, striking the girl, police spokesman Detective Robert Onishi said in a news release.

The driver continued driving northbound but returned to the scene a few minutes later and was interviewed by police, he said.

The girl was taken to hospital with “potentially life-threatening injuries,” according to Onishi.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call 911 or contact Sgt. Kevin Keyes at 425-430-7500 and refer to case number 14-5956.
