A short stretch of Bellevue Way Northeast will close for two weeks starting Monday next to Bellevue Square, requiring drivers to detour around the mall.
The 12-day shutdown, from Northeast Fourth Street to Northeast Sixth Street, will enable the city to replace utility lines, so that Kemper Development can expand Lincoln Square.
The pedestrian sky bridge and all street-side businesses will remain open, but drivers from the south will need to turn west on Fourth, to find entrances to Bellevue Square Mall, as shown in the diagram. The work will occur from May 12 to May 23. By closing the road completely, crews can finish the utility improvements faster, according to the city transportation department.
