UPDATE, 5:30 p.m. | The driver of the Ford Fusion has died, according to the Washington State Patrol. He was pronounced dead at Harborview Medical Center.
ORIGINAL POST | One woman was killed and three people were injured in a two-car collision on state Highway 522 near Maltby, Snohomish County, this afternoon, according to the Washington State Patrol.
Witnesses said an eastbound Mitsubishi Eclipse drifted onto the right shoulder of Highway 522 east of Fales Road around 3:15 p.m., according to the State Patrol. The car hit a construction barrel, overcorrected and crossed the center line, striking a westbound Ford Fusion.
A passenger in the Ford Fusion was pronounced dead at the scene, the State Patrol said. The driver of the Ford and the two people in the Eclipse were taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Highway 522 east of Fales Road is closed in both directions, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
