Ex-Federal Way High coach charged with child molestation

Former Federal Way High School volunteer basketball coach Brianna Strong has been charged with third-degree child molestation and communicating with a minor for immoral purposes in connection with the alleged sexual relationship with a 15-year-old female student, according to court documents.

Strong, 23, was arrested Friday after police said she admitted to inappropriately touching the girl and exchanging nude photos with the girl, a member of the basketball team.

According to charging papers, the two met in November when Strong coached the girl on both her high school and club basketball teams. She indicated that the sexual relationship began in December over text messages and became physical on multiple occasions when Strong would drive the girl home from team practices, according to court documents. In addition to the touching, the two also kissed on several occasions, according to the charging papers.

Cell phones belonging to Strong and the victim were seized as evidence, court documents said.

Strong is being held in jail in lieu of $70,000 bail. Her  arraignment is scheduled for June 23 at the Maleng Regional Justice Center in Kent.
