King County sergeant hurt as he avoids wrong-way driver

A sergeant with the King County Sheriff’s Office received minor injuries this morning when he swerved, and his car rolled, to avoid a wrong-way driver.

The sergeant was driving the county vehicle about 1 a.m. east on Highway 522 in Woodinville, where witnesses told the sheriff’s department a pickup was traveling the wrong direction. The sergeant swerved to avoid hitting the truck, hit a barrier and rolled his car, said Sgt. Cindi West, a spokeswoman with the Sheriff’s Office.

The sergeant went to Evergreen Hospital with minor injuries, including an injury to his hand, West said. He has been released.

Police are looking for the other driver, said to be driving a burgundy or silver full-size pickup.
