Three people were injured in gunfire that broke out shortly before 3 a.m. in Renton, police said.

The incident started when two men in what’s being called “vehicle one” went looking for one of the men’s girlfriend, said Renton police spokeswoman Terri Vickers.

The girlfriend was in “vehicle two” with two other men.

When the two groups encountered each other at 2101 Southwest Sunset Blvd. the two men in vehicle two got out and started shooting at the people in the other vehicle,Vickers said.

One man in vehicle one returned fire. The girlfriend was injured in the crossfire,Vickers said.

When officers arrived, they found the wounded girlfriend and another shooting victim from vehicle one. Both were taken to Harborview Medical Center.

A third victim, believed to be a man from the second vehicle, showed up at another area hospital, Vickers said.

She also said witnesses have been uncooperative.
