Bail set at $250K for suspect in South Park abduction, attempted rape

Update at 3:44 p.m.: A King County District Court judge found probable cause to hold a 26-year-old Seattle man on investigation of kidnapping and rape Tuesday afternoon, and set his bail at $250,000, according to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

The suspect, Dejon Luciano Robinson, is accused of approaching a 10-year-old girl and asking her for directions to a library, about a mile away, according to the statement of probable cause outlining the police case against him. A police spokesman had said earlier Tuesday that the girl had asked Robinson for directions.

After the girl told Robinson where the library was located, he told her he knew a quicker path to take in order to “lure” the girl into a wooded area, the statement says. He is accused of pulling the girl into the wooded area against her will and threatening to rape her if she didn’t have sex with him, according to the statement. Robinson grabbed the girl’s wrist and she fell to the ground before escaping, it says.

Robinson waived his appearance in court Tuesday afternoon. His second court appearance is set for Thursday.

Original post: A man was arrested last night after he dragged a 10-year-old girl into a wooded area and tried to rape her in South Park, police said.

The 26-year-old man grabbed the girl after she asked for directions to the library, according to police. He reportedly threatened to rape the girl if she refused to have sex with him, police said.

A witness driving by called 911 at 6:56 p.m. as the incident unfolded in the 8800 block of Seventh Avenue South, said police spokesman Officer Patrick Michaud.

“He kind of saw what was happening as he drove by” and circled the block, Michaud said of the witness. “Something definitely looked hinky to him and he saw her run out of the woods looking frantic.”

The witness provided police with a detailed description of the suspect, who was arrested moments later in the same block, Michaud said. The girl was able to “somehow get away” from the suspect, he said. She ran from the woods, screaming for help.

The suspect was arrested and booked into the King County Jail on investigation of kidnapping and rape of a child. He is expected to make his first court appearance this afternoon, according to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
