Monday Memo: Man dead in car … Hope Solo in court … SPU suspect in court

Man found shot dead in car in Seattle: He was found not long after midnight in the 5000 block of First Avenue South. Police think the incident may be linked to an earlier report of gunfire near Fourth Avenue and Jackson Street.

Soccer superstar Hope Solo is expected to appear in court today after being arrested in connection with domestic violence involving on her sister and nephew at a party over the weekend. Her attorney says it’s all a misunderstanding.

Also scheduled in court today: The man charged with killing a student and wounding two others in a shooting at Seattle Pacific University is scheduled to be arraigned today on charges of murder, attempted murder and assault.

This could take a long time: Attorneys for Christopher Monfort, who’s accused of killing a Seattle police office, want to hire a jury consultant. Jury selection could take up to eight weeks. Monfort faces the death penalty if convicted.

Six cars burned near Yakima: They were in a parking lot in Terrace Heights just outside of Yakima. Investigators say the cars burned with a fire accidentally started in the engine compartment of one of the cars. Ouch.

Weather: Sunny today with the temperatures expected in the upper 70s. However, there’s a chance of showers tomorrow. National Weather Service forecast
