Monday Memo: Money for SPU hero, victims … Metro cuts not so dire … Felix strikes out 15

More than $44,000 raised for the young man who stopped the shooter at SPU: Jon Meis was certainly a hero for stopping the man who shot three students before he could shoot any other students at the school last Thursday. Conversely. a fundraising page to cover the costs of a funeral for victim Paul Lee and medical costs for Sarah Williams, who was critically wounded, was nearing $13,000. Another page started by Williams’ family had raised nearly $5,000. More donations are expected.

Hero’s brother speaks at church service: Jon Meis has not spoken publicly about what happened that morning, but his brother, Chad, thanked the community for its support and credited his brother’s faith for his bravery.

Here’s some good newsMetro may not need to be cut as much as initially expected.

Felix Hernandez continues to dazzle with a career-high 15 strikeouts in the Mariners’ 5-0 victory against the Tampa Bay Rays yesterday.
