Officer throws life ring to man in Spokane River

SPOKANE — A Spokane police officer acted quickly to save a man yelling for help Monday in the Spokane River near the Red Lion River Inn.

Police say Officer Bruce Palmer grabbed a life ring from the hotel pool, threw it to the man and pulled him to safety.

Police say the man was taken to a hospital for an evaluation about 10 a.m. Monday but is expected to make a full recovery.
