Thursday Memo: Hair on fire … Boeing boss speaks … Our homegrown World Cup star

Woman’s hair set on fire: It happened on a bus in Marysville when a female passenger put a flame to the hair of a woman sitting in front of her. Another passenger put out the fire before the woman was hurt. The fire-setter, who had two lighters on her, was arrested and banned from riding Community Transit buses. Ya think? KIRO has the story.

Speaking of fires: Firefighters say a child playing with matches in Kennnewick, Tri-Cities, started a fire in a fence  yesterday and the fire spread to the house, causing $12,000 in damage. Could have been a lot worse.

Boeing Commercial Airplanes chief Ray Conner asks for more understanding of the company’s need to cut costs as it strives to remain competitive in a “fierce marketplace.”
