Anacortes boat fire: Chief expects total loss

The Associated Press

ANACORTES — The fire chief in Anacortes says a 40-foot boat that caught fire in the Anacortes Marina is expected to be a total loss.

The Skagit Valley Herald reports that Fire Chief Richard Curtis said nearby boats were moved to a safe location.

Officials said the boat was unoccupied when the fire started Monday.

Firefighters attacked the blaze from both the dock and the water.

The cause is not known.
