Bank guard wounded in Central District shooting improves

A 46-year-old bank security guard who was shot with his own gun during a confrontation with another man outside a Central District bank last week is now in satisfactory condition, according to a spokeswoman for Harborview Medical Center.

The other injured man, a 30-year-old who was also shot with the guard’s gun, is listed as being in serious condition in the intensive care unit, hospital spokeswoman Susan Gregg said. Both men were in critical condition when they were admitted on Thursday, but had impoved to serious on Friday, according to the hospital.

Police originally said the men were injured when the guard attempted to confront a robbery suspect outside the Bank of America branch. However, police said they were trying to sort out what happened.

On Monday, a spokesman for Seattle police said detectives are not currently disclosing any more information about the shooting or the circumstances surrounding it.
