Body of man, 70, found in Martha Lake

A 70-year-old man was found dead in Martha Lake today by the Snohomish County Sheriff’s dive team.

The team was called to the 16300 block of East Shore Drive around 4 p.m. after the  family members reported they hadn’t seen the man for two hours, according to a statement from the sheriff’s office.

The family reported that the man indicated he was going swimming in the lake, the statement said.

Rescuers were able to locate the body within minutes, but because of its location, the team is awaiting a boat and equipment to aid in recovery, according to the sheriff’s office.

The death is not considered suspicious at this time, the statement said.
