Chism Beach in Bellevue closed to swimming after sewage overflow

The swimming area at Chism Beach Park in Bellevue is closed until further notice after sewer overflow was found near the park, according to the Bellevue Parks & Community Services Department.

Public Health Seattle & King County recommended the closure after quickly identifying a small amount of overflow found near the beach,  located at 9600 S.E. 11th St., according to a statement from the parks and community services department.

The park area of Chism will remain open while county officials conduct test for water quality, the statement said. Results from the tests are expected Tuesday, and a determination will be made then whether the beach will reopen.
