Family awakened, robbed at gunpoint in Seattle’s Hillman City

Seattle police are investigating a home-invasion robbery that reportedly involved three men who robbed a family at gunpoint in Seattle’s Hillman City neighborhood.

According to a police department report, the family was sleeping when three robbers forced their way through the rear door of a home in the 4600 block of South Orcas Street at about 3:45 a.m. Tuesday.

The family members — two men, two women and a child — were asleep in the front bedroom, back bedroom and in the living room area.

A family member who got up and opened the bedroom door was greeted by one of the robbers, who pulled out a knife and took a gold chain from around the male resident’s neck, according to police. The robber also grabbed loose cash from the bedroom dresser, police said.

At some point, one of the women ran to grab a knife from the kitchen but was met by another robber who had a gun.

After the three robbers left, the family called police.

No one was injured in the robbery.

Police said officers searched the neighborhood and called for a K-9 unit, but they were unable to find the robbers.

Police ask anyone with information to contact Seattle Police Robbery Unit, at 206-684-5535.
