Federal Way stabbing victim identified

The man who died after his wife allegedly stabbed him in Federal Way last Wednesday has been identified.

Eric Winters, 52, died of stab wounds in the chest, according to the King County Medical Examiner’s Office. His wife remains in custody for investigation of second-degree murder in lieu of $500,000 bail.

According to a statement of probable cause outlining the police case, Winters’ 50-year-old wife told Federal Way police she called 911 Wednesday evening to report she had accidentally stabbed her husband. She told people they had been arguing and that she suspected he had been drinking. She said she went into the kitchen to cut up frozen chicken for dinner when Winters walked up behind her. She turned around and accidentally stabbed him, she told police.

Winters was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Federal Way Police Department.

A judge set bail at $500,000 for Winters’ wife on Saturday, King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office spokesman Dan Donohoe said today. The woman’s second appearance is scheduled for Wednesday.
