Federal Way woman ordered held in husband’s slaying

A judge found probable cause today to hold a Federal Way woman for investigation of second-degree murder in connection with the stabbing death of her husband.

According to a statement of probable cause outlining the police case, the 50-year-old woman told Federal Way police she called 911 Wednesday evening to report that she had accidentally stabbed her husband.

She told police that the couple had been arguing about their mortgage on their home, the statement said. The document stated that the woman also told officers she suspected her husband had been drinking.

The woman went into the kitchen to prepare chicken for dinner when her husband came up behind her and she stabbed him in the chest, according to the document. The 51-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspect’s son was in the home at the time and told police that after seeing his mother armed with a knife he attempted to separate the couple, according to the statement.

The Times is not naming the woman because she has not been charged.

The King County Prosecutor’s Office said that a bond hearing to set bail for the suspect is scheduled for Friday at the King County Jail.
