Friday Memo: Fires burning … roads closing … grab some energy

Major wildfires around the state continue to wreak havoc. Residents of the small town of Pateros in northern Central Washington were forced to evacuate Thursday evening. More on the fires.

If it’s not on fire, it’s difficult to get there anyway in Washington today. Eastbound I-90 remains closed near Vantage because of low visibility caused by smoke and wind. Highway 2 is closed from Coles Corner to Leavenworth. Highway 20 also has closures as well as Highway 97. Check the Washington Department of Transportation’s website for the most current list of closures. Closer to Seattle, traffic will be difficult and don’t forget about part of the I-90 bridge being reduced to one lane for the next week.

Cooling down: Temperatures should be in the mid-70s and there’s a chance of some showers this weekend, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Get that boost: Think that five hours of energy is all from magical vitamins and minerals? Neither does the state. Washington is suing the makers of 5-Hour Energy Drink for its ad claims. Rumor has it, there’s just a little bit of caffeine in there as well.
