Police are searching for a man accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old girl in Seattle’s Bitter Lake neighborhood this afternoon.
The girl said she was listening to music at Bitter Lake Playfield when a man called out her name, the Seattle Police Department said. The girl thought she knew the man and walked up to him. The man then grabbed the girl and dragged her to a secluded area near the water and sexually assaulted her.
The girl escaped and fled to the Bitter Lake Community Center, police said. She was taken to Harborview Medical Center for evaluation.
The man was last seen leaving along Bitter Place North on the southwest side of the lake. Sexual-assault detectives are investigating the incident. Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or contact detectives at 206-684-5575.
