Malott, Okanogan County, evacuated after one home burns

Malott, a town of 500 north of Brewster, Okanogan County, has been evacuated as one home burned Friday night, Okanogan County Sheriff Frank Rogers said.

Rogers said the Carlton Complex wildfire is moving in around the town along B and O Road. Residents are being asked to stay with family and relatives, or to seek shelter in Omak.

Rogers said U.S. Highway 97 is closed north of the city.

The massive fire destroyed about 100 homes in and around Pateros Thursday night.
