A burglary suspect driving naked crashed and rolled a stolen car on Interstate 5 south in Seattle’s Northgate neighborhood Saturday morning.

State Patrol troopers responded to the crash scene just after 5 a.m. and found the driver naked and unconscious outside the vehicle. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center. Neither his condition nor his injuries were available.

Trooper Chris Webb said investigators don’t believe the car hit any other vehicles or property before it rolled off the road and landed upside down or that anyone else was in the vehicle.

It’s not known why the driver was naked.

It appears the whole thing may have begun with a burglary in Lynnwood. Lynnwood Police think the naked man could be the same man who broke into several Lynnwood businesses in the 18900 block of Highway 99 around 4:30 a.m. Police say the man, in his 20s, apparently found keys to one of the businesses’ vehicles, loaded up the car with stolen merchandise and drove off before this morning’s crash.

Lynnwood police spokesman Sgt. Sean Doty said the man is likely to be booked into Snohomish County Jail later today on multiple felony charges.
