PSE outages in Renton and Redmond affect more than 3,000

Puget Sound Energy crews have been dealing with outages since about 8 a.m. this morning, when approximately 1,200 Redmond customers lost power.

Before crews could completely fix that equipment problem, a new outage popped up in Renton around 12:30 p.m. and cut power to 2,245 customers, said PSE spokesman Ray Lane.

Lane said the second outage might be weather-related, but crews were still investigating the cause as of 1:10 p.m. According to the utility’s Twitter account, PSE is estimating the Renton outage will be fixed by 4:30 p.m.

Crews first thought they could fix the Redmond outage by about noon, but found additional equipment failures that have set back the estimated restoration time to 2:15 p.m., according to PSE’s Twitter feed.

This post will be updated as more information is received.
