Rape suspect deported from Washington to Samoa

The Associated Press

SEATTLE — A man accused of child rape in Samoa has been deported after nearly a year in custody at the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement office in Seattle says the 37-year-old, Vaiaoga Leatuvao, came to the United States in September 2012. After a warrant was issued in Samoa he was arrested last August because his visa expired and held for deportation proceedings.

The agency says officers departed with the man Tuesday from Sea-Tac Airport and they arrived Thursday in Samoa where he was turned over to local law enforcement.

He’s accused of raping four girls at a school for the disabled where he taught.
