Changing the appeal of downtown Seattle parks: Seattle officials and downtown groups have started a revolving program of events and activities to try to turn around parks that in recent years have felt “more menacing than welcoming,” reporter Lynn Thompson writes. Train derailment sends Boeing fuselage into river: A derailment in Montana ended with several Boeing airplane fuselages and other equipment bound for Renton sliding into a river Thursday. The train was headed to Boeing’s final-assembly plant in Renton from Spirit AeroSystems in Wichita, Kan.
Sounders play tonight: The Sounders play the Vancouver Whitecaps and are expected to have Obafemi Martins back in the lineup. Coverage starts at 7 p.m. on Channel 10, JOEtv.
