Seattle man sentenced to 15 years for distributing child porn

A 30-year-old Seattle man with prior convictions for child molestation was sentenced Friday to 15 years in federal prison for distributing child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office

Joseph Edgar Brown was also sentenced to a lifetime of probation, prosecutors said.

According to court documents, Brown was on probation after serving time for molesting two young girls when he set up an email account using the name of a former roommate. Using that account, he collected images of infants and toddlers being raped and distributed them to more than 50 people, prosecutors said.

“We now know Brown’s penchant for trading images of brutal sexual abuse of toddlers and infants was just the tip of the iceberg,” said Brad Bench, special agent in charge of Homeland Security Investigations in Seattle. “Through our investigation we discovered online chats between Brown and other child predators discussing his soon to be born child, who he planned on abusing.”

Court documents say Brown also encouraged other sex offenders to assault their own children and offered them the opportunity to assault his child, who was born three weeks after Brown’s arrest in November 2013.
