Sunday Memo: Man at party drowns in Snohomish River … Bertha repair hits snag … Marshawn Lynch poll

Young man missing, likely drowned in Snohomish River: The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office says the 21-year-old man was in a canoe that capsized after midnight as he and others were being ferried to a party on a sandbar in the river. The search for the man was to resume this morning. No one was wearing a life vest.

Are we surprised? Not much … The pit being dug to reach tunnel-digging Bertha’s chewing front end so it can be repaired has hit a snag, likely delaying the repair effort. The contractor says don’t worry, the tunnel itself will get done on time.

Marshawn Lynch hold out: Do you think it’s smart for the beast to hold out for a better contract with the Hawks? Vote in our  poll.

Speaking of sports: M’s win, Storm loses and Sounders have the day off, but here’s a nice feature about player Michael Azira.

Weather: Are you ready for some heat? Sunny and temps in the 80s throughout the week. Must be August. Yeah,l baby. National Weather Service forecast
