Thursday Memo: Pot freighter afloat … Revenge of the uncool … Tank cars derail

Pot-smuggling freighter to be salvaged: The vessel, which was seized carrying a whopping $74 million worth of marijuana 18 months ago and later sank in Tacoma’s Hylebos Waterway, has been refloated and hauled to Seattle to be salvaged for $1.2 million. A lot of pot, expensive salvage, no?

Uncool in middle school? Who can forget those awkward, trying years. Join the group. But being less than hip might have been a good thing. You heard it here.

What’s the most popular restaurant food in Washington? We can safely say it isn’t Brussels sprouts. Find out in our All You Can Eat column by Rebekah Denn.

Train derails: KOMO says a couple of railroad tank cars derailed under the Magnolia Bridge in Interbay in Seattle early this morning. KIRO says the tankers were filled with crude oil, but it doesn’t appear anything has spilled. This story is developing.

Weather: We don’t have t0 tell you it’s rained a lot this month, but we will anyway. We even set a record yesterday. It’s still expected to warm up and dry up by the weekend, though. National Weather Service forecast
