1 dead, 1 critical after shooting in quiet Beacon Hill neighborhood

UPDATE: 6 a.m., Friday: Witnesses heard arguing and then shots fired Thursday night in an alley in Seattle’s Beacon Hill neighborhood.

When police arrived about 10:20 p.m. they found two men wounded.

They were taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle where KING reports one of them died overnight.

ORIGINAL POST: Two men apparently shot each other late Thursday night in a quiet Beacon Hill neighborhood, police said.

Both were taken to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition, and police had no other suspects, according to Seattle police spokesman Patrick Michaud.

Police believe the men, both about 35 years old, were arguing near the 1700 block of South Hanford Street when one pulled a gun. Then the second man pulled a gun and the two shot each other, Michaud said.

It’s unclear how many shots were fired or where on their bodies the men were shot, he said.

Michaud said it was difficult to understand precisely what happened because neither of the men speaks English.

Police believe at least one of the men lives in the neighborhood.

The shooting took place in what is usually a quiet, safe residential neighborhood.

“It’s very uncommon for there to be a double shooting in the neighborhood,” Michaud said.
