Friday Memo: Avoid 99 … Pot buses won’t roll … Pre-Beast Mode … Grizzly comeback

Slow going: If you haven’t been paying attention this week, Seattle DOT is closing Highway 99 for four days. Because they think traffic might be lower, they decided to add a pothole repair near North 40th Street on Tuesday. Hey, why not?

That’s how we (don’t) roll: In case you were planning a ride on a weed wagon, the state has said “no” to marijuana party buses. “Your vehicles are ‘a public place’ or a ‘place of employment,’ ” a notice to bus and tour operators said as explanation. You can’t smoke weed in public or at work, according to state law.

Pre-Beast Mode: It’s another preseason game, but look for more action from the starters tonight as the Seahawks take on the Bears. Marshawn Lynch should be on the field.  “It’s time for him to get some carries and get involved a little bit,’’ coach Pete Carroll says.

Rawr! The federal government is looking for ways to restore grizzly bears to the Northwest. The government will launch an environmental analysis this fall to evaluate strategies to boost bear numbers.

Just right: Don’t like your weather too hot or too cold? Well, Goldilocks, today should be just right. Expect  morning fog to give way to clear skies and highs in the mid-70s this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service forecast.

Weekly dose of weird: Did you see the story about the robot hitchhiking across Canada? That story and other odd stories from the week.
