Missing dog found dead near Redmond crash site

The dog that went missing after an SUV driven by the animal’s family was hit Sunday night was found dead at the crash site  Wednesday, according to the Redmond Police Department.

Jake, a wire-haired griffon, was in a Ford Explorer driven by former Redmond police Chief Steve Harris and disappeared after the crash that killed Harris and critically injured his wife, Margaret. Taylor Griffith, 16, who struck the Harris’ Explorer on Highway 202 near Redmond, also died in the crash.

Volunteers searched the area for Jake on Tuesday and Wednesday and found him Wednesday afternoon. He died from crash injuries, police said.

Margaret Harris remains in critical condition at Harborview Medical Center.
