Update 7:40 a.m.:
A crash on the West Seattle freeway early Wednesday that left a 32-year-old motorcyclist dead and his passenger seriously hurt occurred after the motorcyclist apparently failed to negotiate a curve.
According to the Washington State Patrol, the motorcycle was heading east on the freeway just after 1 a.m.when it crashed near the exit ramp onto Interstate 5. The motorcyclist and his passenger were ejected; both were wearing helmets.
The State Patrol says they’re investigating whether speed was a contributor to the crash.
The roadway was blocked for almost three hours while troopers investigated, according to the State Patrol.

The crash, involving the motorcycle and a semi-tractor trailer, occurred on the freeway as it approached southbound Interstate-5, according tweets from the Washington State patrol.
The motorcycle driver died in the crash, and while the woman passenger was seriously injured, but there is speculation she might have suffered more injuries had she not landed in mesh netting on the side of the roadway. The netting is there to catch road debris, according to the State Patrol.
