Party fight leads to gun shots; one man wounded

A man was shot in the leg in North Seattle early this morning when he tried to break up a fight that started at a party, according to Seattle police.

Police said they were called to the shooting site near North 107th Street and Whitman Avenue North around 1:30 a.m. on Sunday after a birthday celebration turned violent.

Witnesses told police that the fight started inside but continued in the street after the host kicked the feuding guests from his apartment.  The victim was shot, police said, while he was trying to break up the fight.

The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The shooting suspect is still being sought, police said.
