Pit bull euthanized after mauling 5-year-old boy in Idaho

DESMET, Idaho (AP) — A pit bull was euthanized over the weekend after attacking a 5-year-old boy in northwestern Idaho.

The Spokesman-Review reports the boy was attacked by a neighbor’s dog as he played in his aunt’s yard on Friday evening in DeSmet on the Coeur d’Alene Indian Reservation.

The boy suffered bites on his head and right ear and was treated at Kootenai Health in Coeur d’Alene.

Coeur d’Alene tribal police cited the dog’s owner for keeping a vicious dog.
