Police prevent man from jumping onto ramp at I-5 and SR 520

Fire and police crews spent several hours this morning just east of Interstate-5 north of downtown Seattle, where they successfully prevented a man from jumping onto the freeway ramp from I-5 to State Route 520,  according to the Seattle Fire Department.

The man was taken to Harborview Medical Center about 11 a.m., said Fire Department spokesman Kyle Moore

Fire, medic and police crews originally responded to the call at Harvard Avenue East and East Lynn Street with rescue equipment about 6:30 a.m. when the man was threatening to jump from the Harvard Street overpass,  said Moore.

The northbound ramp to State Route 520 was closed for several hours during the incident, Moore said.
