Thursday Memo: Police clear Beast … We like winners … Pave paradise? Developing controversy

Innocent Beast: Bellevue Police have cleared Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch of all allegations. The statement from the BPD Wednesday night read: “The Bellevue Police Department has determined that Marshawn Lynch was not involved in last weekend’s property damage and assault case in any way. This case remains an open and active investigation. We appreciate the cooperation we have received from the Seahawks organization during this investigation.”

It’s fun to have winning teams: The Mariners swept their series against Toronto with a 2-0 victory over the Blue Jays. They’ve won eight of the last nine games, averaging nearly six runs a game. Now it’s off to Detroit. The Sounders announced the transfer of star DeAndre Yedlin to the Tottenham Hotspur, but the team rounded out the day with a 6-0 win over Chicago to reach an Open Cup final.

Coval House controversy: What do you do with a mansion on Mercer Island that includes a $10-million tropical pool and its own orchard? Why, level it of course, and put in a development. Island residents are up in arms after the city council ultimately approved a developer’s revised plans for the Coval House property.

Peek-a-boo skyline: It’s another cool Northwest day this morning with morning fog and highs in the low-70s, according to the National Weather Service forecast. But we should be returning to our regularly scheduled summer programming this weekend with temps closer to 80 and sunny skies.
