Thursday Memo: Cooler days coming … Cop shoots attacking dog … Seahawks tonight

Weather, she’s a-changin: The temperature is expected to reach about 75 today, but only to the upper 60s or maybe 70 degrees tomorrow. Temperatures lower than what we’ve seen recently are also expected through the holiday weekend. National Weather Service forecast

Cop shoots, kills dog that bit him: It happened Spokane Valley, where the officer was bitten several times on the arms and legs yesterday afternoon. There were “beware of dog” signs on the property, and the homeowner, who wasn’t home at the time, wonders why the officer didn’t use mace instead of killing the dog.

School did well on standardized test: Very well, it appears, and that has launched a state review of the Seattle elementary school.

The Seahawks’ last exhibition game tonight will help settle who stays with the team and who doesn’t. The team has 75 players on its roster now, and that number has to come down to 53 by Saturday. The game is at 7 p.m.
