TACOM A— The 33-year-old driver responsible for the hit-and-run crash that killed a man in Tacoma in March was sentenced Tuesday to 10 years in prison.
Jason Hoke pleaded guilty in June in Pierce County Superior Court to vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a fatal wreck.
The crash killed 57-year-old Douglas Davis, a Boeing worker.
The News Tribune reports Hoke had a criminal record and ran away. He was arrested in April in Longview.
Hoke’s lawyer says his client likely fell asleep at the wheel and then just panicked and ran.
