UPDATE, 10 p.m. | The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the two people killed in the Spanaway crash as Krista Case, 18, of Tacoma and Brew Baker, 22, of Bonney Lake.
Update at 7 p.m.: The two people who died in the Spanaway crash are an 18-year-old female and a 22-year-old male, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department. The driver of the sedan that was hit by the white Honda was taken to a hospital with serious injuries.
Original post: Two people were killed in a crash after the pursuit of a stolen car near Spanaway, Pierce County, on Wednesday afternoon.
A woman called police around 2 p.m. to report her daughter’s friends had left a stolen white Honda in her garage, then called back about 10 minutes later and said they had returned to her house to retrieve the car, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department. Deputies located the white Honda at 152nd Street and 22nd Avenue and confirmed the car had been stolen on Saturday.
Another deputy located the car at 22nd and Military Road and pursued it westbound on Military Road, the sheriff’s department said. The car reached speeds of more than 50 mph and made multiple lane changes.
Around 2:30 p.m., the car wrecked at 152nd Street and Brookdale Road East. Deputies confirmed two of the three people in the car died.
