Crews cleaning up hazmat spill in downtown Seattle

Seattle Fire Department crews are cleaning up a what was thought to be a hazardous-material spill behind a downtown Seattle hotel, officials said.

The spilled substance located in the alleyway behind the Courtyard Downtown Seattle/Pioneer Square has been identified as a non-dangerous chemical, according to the fire department. A hazmat team is on the scene.

Traffic will be delayed at Second Avenue and Cherry Street until the scene is cleared, the fire department said.
