Everett police on Tuesday morning arrested a man in connection with a sexual assault earlier this month.
According to police, a SWAT team arrested a 44-year-old man at a home in the 2300 block of Oakes Avenue around 8:45 a.m. The man was booked into the Snohomish County Jail for investigation of first-degree rape and investigation of second-degree assault, said department spokesman Aaron Snell.
The man, who is not being named because he has not had his first appearance before a judge, is accused of raping a woman at his home on Sept. 19. The woman told police that the man gave her heroin then tried to get her to work as a prostitute. When she refused, he beat her with a stick, police said.
“The male wanted to teach the female a lesson and raped her at gunpoint for disrespecting him,” Snell wrote in a news release.
The woman managed to escape, but when she saw him drive by her a few days later he pointed a gun at her, police said.
